Invitation – Ephem Business Directory Walk
Another Tampa walk
This Ephemeral Business Directory walk is on Wednesday April 19th at 7pm leaving from The Park on Sligh and 12th st. (2 blocks west of Nebraska) There is a pre-walk scouting expedition, on Saturday afternoon 1pm-3pm*

1.* Optional (please help) meet me at 5 in the sculpture shop (below photo) for memorial marker making (alliteration means fun!)
*2.* Walk 7pm Meet outside grad studios, carpool to walking point, and then walk for 1.5 hours, this means comfy shoes, maybe your camera ( though not required). Here’s the project proposal for the walk
*3.* We drive from our walk place and eat at Tara’s Roti Shop on 30th

/ABOUT THE WALK
Each weekend, and especially on days approaching holidays, vendors – selling things such as BBQ, gift baskets, Mix CDs, DVD’s, Fruit, and carwashes open for our convenience. The businesses which set up temporary shop in parking lots, empty lots, and along the side of the road are particularly pedestrian friendly, and seem to be thriving; yet they remain an ephemeral, un-documented part of our city. I think that a survey of vendors/locations over the weekends leading up to the inhospitable summer months will provide a directory of ephemeral demands, these vendors strive to supply with their goods. Maybe the sites should be marked with the debris left from the
businesses in occupation, or with a phone book….
I’m proposing a 2 hour walk from the park on sligh and 12th st. *
1. a series of “scoutings” the first on Saturday, April 15th — 1-3. This “scouting”, lead by head expedition coordinator chelsea who knows the area, with rozalinda as crew (others wanna join???) can locate various ephem businesses, ask questions, take pictures, learn about vendors and merchendise etc.
2. a public walk with invited guests and participants wednesday, april 19th, between 7-8:30-ish along the same routes. we
will pause where ephem vendors were encountered the week-end before and mark the spaces with small “memorials”, images or text, may include info about the products, people, and so on. these markers are also intended as invocations (chelsea likes this word) for them to return. the evening will end at tara’s roti shop on 30th, north of busch blvd, just across from bush gardens – for dinner and post-walk conversation.
ps. please reply if you want to join the scouting expedition. also, please reply if you are available for the walk on wednesday, and –
